Netflix is my BFF

So in my search for friends (that just sounds sad lol), I have found a new a wonderful friend that entertains me. It's name is Netflix. :) I have been watching way too many movies lately, but that's mostly because I have nothing to do except homework or work-work. I'm so ready to start meeting people that want to hang out and get me out of my dorm. Makes me miss all the people I left behind in NC. I just keep telling myself that I have actually only been here, in SF, for 2 weeks. It feels like months have passed. Everyone needs to get Skype or something along those lines so I can see your faces. Feeling kinda friend/family sick lately.

On a high note, I have now taken all of my classes at least once and things are moving right along. I think I will go on some kind of trip in the city- see something new and get some pics. Who knows- maybe find the 'Full House' house lol. I booked my plane ticket to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving and will get to see my aunt and uncle there. I'm pretty excited to find out that I don't have to spend the holidays alone (woop woop!). That would be a huge bummer if I was here on my own. Next purchase: plane ticket back to NC in December. Can't wait to see everyone. I miss you guys so much. You have no idea.

I have also been up to a lot of cooking lately. That means I need to start running again so I don't get the infamous Freshman 15 (eek!). That WON'T happen to me! Here is some (definitely not all) of what I have been eating lately:

Insalata Caprese (Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar)
Egg sandwich w/onions, mushrooms, fresh garlic, basil pesto on whole wheat grain bread & smoked Gouda
I was also walking yesterday and saw this amazing gallery:

Dr. Seuss Gallery!!!
Well talk to you all soon and I will post some pics from my excursions tomorrow. Love you all!!

Noisy Paint Peeling

This morning was rough. I woke up to men on scaffolding scraping paint off of our windows and building. At 8 am this all went down. I didn't have class today so I was planning on getting some major homework done and so office stuff taken care of. Well it was so loud, I had to wear my headphones with blasting music just to listen to something decent. Then the A.D.D. kicked in. I am a mess today. I watched a movie late last night thinking I could sleep in and woke up really early (I was awake before 8 am too... still not used to having a roommate IN my room). So my next purchase will be earplugs. Money well spent. :)

I got a nap in and the majority of my work completed. The rest I will do in the morning before class. So no pictures today, just workers outside my window.

Man, oh man...

I have been pretty dang busy with my classes the past few days. Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this. Anyway, my classes are really great except for the one I had today... my teacher is fine, the subject matter is fine, most of the students are fine... except one.

Picture this: a man in his mid-thirties, bald on top, but obviously feels uncomfortable about it because he has grown his hair long. He then went another step and decided to turn it into tiny little braids all over his head (I'll have to sneak a picture of this man soon so you can share in my amazement). He must be the loudest person in this entire school and is obviously someone who doesn't have their filter turned to "on." My professor would talk and tell us what to expect in the class and this man would talk right over her, interjecting his opinions into every possible break in speech. When our professor would ask a question, he would answer, in detail, exactly what he thought. If someone else would bring up a point, he would bring up the EXACT same point 2 seconds later. All I know, is this is going to be the longest semester of my life with this guy in my class. My professor even asked a question at one point and she immediately turned to him and said, "We all know you have an opinion, but lets let someone else talk now." Wow. He's just great... pray for me. I'll need it.

Anyway, I finally made it to Target today and went with my roommate and new friend, Jeremiah. He lives in Oakland. On the way back to SF, I got to see a really great view of the city. Here are some pics:

Theatre in Oakland
We were joking around that this is what happens when women don't look before they cross the street. They leave shoes behind :)

Alcatraz with fog
City view from the Bay Bridge
More city
and More
Now it's time to get my movie watching on after I clean some new dishes I picked up at Target today... I love that place :) Goodnight all and sleep tight ;)

I did walk 500 hundred miles...

Yesterday, I ended up walking all over the place. My original goal was to go to the Golden Gate Bridge. I ended up heading to Fisherman's Wharf because I wanted to grab a bite to eat. When I got to the Wharf, there were TONS of people everywhere. I forgot that it is Labor Day weekend...

So I got my sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder from Boudin. I decided the Golden Gate Bridge could wait since the tourists in town were driving me nuts.

After that, I walked west of Fisherman's Wharf and found the Trader Joe's. I got stocked up on olive oil, cheese, pasta, and all sorts of other goodies. I love having one that is closer than 2 hours away driving, like it was living in NC. After I got all of my groceries, I started walking and walking. I was going to try and catch a cable car, but they seemed to be having difficulties and there was a crew working on the cable lines. So I walked all the way home. I should have some major calf muscles after walking up and down hills like this:

Then I watched a movie with my roommate and new friend Dorian. We watched "Fire in the Sky" which was about a true story of a man in NE Arizona that was apparently abducted by a UFO. It was interesting to say the least. Anyway, that's about all that is going on in my world. Hope everyone is enjoying their Labor day and getting a BBQ in at least.
